Peter Kinash:
Peter Kinash, of Calgary Alberta, is an Advisor to SpringBank TechVentures.
Peter spent the past 15 years working and volunteering in the Alberta technology sector and is currently an advisor, mentor or investor helping early stage technology companies in Calgary, mainly in the areas of strategy and finance. Peter is CFO, part time, of Replicon Inc., the world leader in web based time tracking solutions for project oriented organizations.
Peter's corporate career includes serving for 20 months as CFO of Wi-LAN Inc.(TSX:WIN), a leading designer, developer and supplier of broadband wireless data networks, and co-founder of the OFDM Forum. During Peter's time at Wi-LAN the company made four acquisitions and raised $60million in three equity financings.
Prior to joining Wi-LAN in January 2000, Peter led the Calgary technology practice of KPMG, assisting a wide range of technology companies with issues related to strategy, alliance partners, financing, people, securities and tax in Canada and the US. Peter's technology clients were involved in over $3 billion of equity, merger and debt transactions in the late 1990's. Peter had lead Partner responsibility on many successful private technology companies and one of Canada's 10 largest oil and gas producers. Peter's technology client's which were public at the time he was lead partner included: Axia NetMedia, Cell-loc, IVRNet, MetroNet, Position Inc., QSound, Sport Active Television, TeleBackup Systems and Wi-LAN. Peter worked on two year rotational assignments with KPMG in each of The Hague, Netherlands and Washington D.C.
Peter has been involved in many initiatives related to the Alberta technology community at the founder/director level including the Calgary Emerging and Technology Company Investment Symposium (Calgary Society of Financial Analysts Portfolio Management Trust), the ViaTech initiative, Alberta High Tech Golf Day ( Science Alberta Foundation) and the Alberta Science and Technology Leadership Foundation. Peter was instrumental in engaging two of these initiatives in support of related charitable organizations as noted in parentheses above. Peter has an extensive involvement with Woods Homes, a national organization which helps troubled youth and families.
Peter is a Chartered Accountant and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1977 with a B.Comm degree.
